Most schools require that you are a matriculated student. Basically, this means that you have applied for entrance and have been accepted as a student at the school. Although many of the schools have an online application process, tt is important to apply in advance so that you can have your first pick at the classes you want. Lower level courses, especially if they are general education required classes, in any discipline tend to fill up quickly. Additionally, not every school accepts each applicant that applies. Each higher ed institution reviews your personal attainments that include high school GPA, other college/university GPA, ACT and/or SAT scores, AP scores, etc. in deciding to accept your application.
